minotaur husband by Psshaw minotaur husband by Psshaw
Hellooo. I'm starting a small sketch series, featuring humans and their monster dudes. Mostly this will just highlight how bad I am at dip pens.

This is everybody's favorite so far. I think it's the colors? I like the colors.

Yup, colours are excellent and moody and warm and animalistic ^^ Like the minotaur's expression and his bulk against the smallness of the lady. Plus the texture on her dress is clever :D

Somebody likes orange. I don't have any knowledge or interest in printing right now, but it's nice to hear where the demand would be if I changed my mind.

Ugh there is this thing that's amazing me with this right now. It's like, you know the Minotaur and lady are being all married-couple-like and lovely, you just instantly do. But when I look at the expressions and everything separately, I realize how easy it looks to fuck up that kinda chemistry. It could have looked like it was his secretary, or a maid or something idfk. But it doesn't itsjustsoperfectugh
been wantin' to say that.

Holy wow, I never thought of it that way! And thank god I didn't, because if I'd been worried about messing up the whole time I know I would have, y'know. Actually messed up.

But ohh maaaan you make those dip pens work. Your exaggerated lines do the medium well, if I do say so myself.

I'm going to put my money on the rim light, though. Bitches love rim light.

i really like the texture the dip pen ads to your linework. i attempted to use one years ago, several times, and i just couldnt get used it. i also like their faces a lot, really unique style. looking forward to this series!

The colors are cool, but I think the subject matter is cooler. This reminds me of The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break. It's a weird book about if THE actual minotaur survived into modernity. Both weird and interesting.

I can't get my usual line quality without sacrificing what little volume my sketches tend to have. These things handle so much differently than a pencil or stylus or technical pen. I just gotta get used to thinking differently!

Think about it this way. It gives your piece something you usually won't add. My Visual art teacher always told me, "sometimes your mistakes could do wonders for your art"

THIS IS VALID, as long as I'm not stuck trying distracting white-lighting coloring schemes to compensate for those mistakes.
